Ray Grabanski, President/Senior Market Analyst

Ray Grabanski is President and the Principal Owner of Progressive Ag, a firm specializing in helping farmers prosper by taking calculated risks, and passing on risk to others via crop insurance, cash marketing positions and futures/options hedging accounts when the limited reward is no longer worth the risk.

Progressive Ag focuses on the timing of this risk transfer, and coordinating those efforts with the highly subsidized, but rigid multi-peril crop insurance program. Progressive Ag has been highly successful in this venture, rated the top marketing firm in the US by the USDA sponsored AGMAS Program, which has placed Progressive Ag consistently above all other US marketing firms for corn/soybeans for the past four years. Ray designed the export, yield and price computer models that have been instrumental in making Progressive Ag the premiere marketing firm in the US, and is the lead analyst responsible for making market decisions.

Progressive Ag Systems, the crop insurance arm, is perhaps the largest and fastest growing independent insurance agency in the Northern Plains, largely due to the innovative methods Ray has used to coordinate crop insurance and marketing into a comprehensive risk management program. Ray has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Ag Economics from North Dakota State and Iowa State University, has worked as a Farm Management Specialist with the NDSU Extension Service in the early 90’s, a farm management consultant, and is a recognized industry leader in risk management methods. Ray celebrated 19 years of marriage to his wife Joan in 2006 and they live near Kindred, ND with their two children, Shelby (9) and Bryce (3).
